Everyone should visit this country at least once.
The views are unbeatable, the peace and quiet on the roads is unbelievable and the people make you feel like you are a New Zealander, born and bred.
My husband, James, and I had the absolute delight of visiting NZ on our world travels in 2011, spending a whole month travelling through the South and North Islands in a little camper van named Budley. We were very fond of him. You know you have a good camper on your hands when he comes with a faux fur blanket and a hot water bottle for those chilly NZ nights.
The Fergburger was a highlight of the local cuisine. I can't even begin to tell you how mouth wateringly delicious my aptly named 'Bambi' venison burger was. I still have to wake myself up from daydreams about it. Quite frankly, despite all the unique and quirky burger joints in London, I'm unsure if any could ever come close to this beauty.
If you ever get the opportunity, go. Don't hesitate. Chuck some walking boots* in your suitcase, hop on a flight and find the nearest camper. The first campsite we spent the night in was a woodland clearing, with zero light polution, clear views of the constellations and only the distant sounds of a waterfall. How could you not be tempted by that?
* Please note, wanting to walk up steep hills and look at panoramic views whilst saying 'ooooh' 'aaaah' may be the side effect of a trip to this country.
