My Top 5 Christmas films.
Home Alone
It's a must. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without Home Alone. James and I are quite particular about when we watch this one. There are some festive films I can watch earlier, in November, but Home Alone is like the beginning of official Christmas in our house so it must be at least December to watch this bad boy.
"Keep tha change, ya filthy animal!"
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Chevy Chase just knows how to do comedy. Especially festive comedy. This film is ridiculous but definitely on my list.
Love Actually
I was 17 when this more recent Christmas classic came out. I was emotionally charged and remember crying from the first scene in the airport. Every flippin time!
Richard Curtis got it so right with Love Actually and I must admit that this is watched all year round in my house (by half our household...) How can you not love so many iconic British actors, in a frosty looking London during the holiday season. It's cheesy and cliched but isn't that why I love Christmas anyway?
Father Christmas
This is my oldest favourite. We used to watch it every year when I was little and I just adore it. When I was little I loved it because Father Christmas was so grumpy and that was very funny to a small me. Now I love it for nostalgic reasons, and also for the wonderful illustrations.
'Jump up on my sleigh and we'll all be on our way to another blooooomin Christmas'
Miracle on 34th Street
I have to apologise that this is not the original, I know I've dropped the ball there. Nevertheless I can't get through December without watching this film. It's so quintessentially magical and that scene with the 'We Believe' signs gives me goosebumps everytime! Plus Richard Attenborough is such a perfect Father Christmas.
What are your favourite films to watch at Christmas? I'm always wanting to add more to the collection!
